The YWCA of Greater Harrisburg
Website Design & Build
An Accessible Hub for Urgent Help & Everyday Services
YWCA Greater Harrisburg serves survivors and families across our region with housing, crisis response, legal services, child development, employment support, veterans services, and more. The new site needed to make urgent help unmistakable, present programs clearly, and give staff a flexible way to publish without waiting on developers.

The Challenge
A broad program mix meant multiple audiences with different needs—survivors, families, donors, employers, veterans, and parents. Urgent access (24-hour hotline, safety) had to be prominent and consistent. Information architecture needed to improve findability while the team needed a governable CMS.
Our Approach
We reorganized content around top tasks—Get Help, Programs, and Support—then built a Flexsite component library to standardize patterns and speed updates. Accessibility and performance guided layout, contrast, and interaction choices.

24/7 Hotline Visibility
Hotline placement and repetition make urgent contact unmissable.

Quick-Escape, Everywhere
A persistent safety affordance appears across templates so visitors can leave quickly when needed.

Program Pages, Built from Reusable Components
A component library keeps design consistent, speeds page creation, and makes future growth easier.

The editor-friendly CMS provides guardrails for content while freeing staff to publish updates quickly.

WCAG-Minded Patterns
Contrast, type, and interactions support real-world accessibility (AA with targeted AAA moments).

When the mission is urgent, clarity isn’t a style choice—it’s a promise. Flexsite let us pair craft with speed so the YWCA team can update in minutes and people find help faster. That’s our Vivid Vision: beautiful because it works for real people.
